Ms. Gleason oversees 24 chapters as well as AFSP field staff within the Eastern U.S. In this role she works with staff and volunteers to implement suicide prevention programs at the local level, including education, advocacy, and programs for survivors of suicide. She also educates community leaders on issues associated with suicide and provides technical expertise to groups and volunteer leaders in order to develop chapters of AFSP. She is currently collaborating with law enforcement representatives in several major cities to adapt AFSP's Interactive Screening Program for police personnel and other first responders. She joined AFSP as the first field staff for the Foundation in 2004.
Additionally, Ms. Gleason is a past state co-chair of the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention (MCSP), and currently serves on the MCSP Executive Committee. She also represents AFSP as a member of the Rhode Island and Connecticut Health Advocacy Forums. She recently served as a member of the board of directors for the Center for Peaceful Living and the Business Advisory Board of Self Esteem Boston.
With more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management, Ms. Gleason’s background includes previous positions with the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, the American Red Cross and the MetroWest AIDS Program.
