Mental Health Parity

Federal health care reform and mental health parity laws and regulations are expected to increase access to mental health and addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery support services for millions of Americans.

This increased access has the potential to significantly reduce the number of suicides in the United States each year.

AFSP urges Congress to oppose all attempts to reverse health care reform and its provisions for mental health parity. We support full implementation of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act signed into law in 2008.
