AFSP Attends AUSA Annual Meeting


On Monday, October 21, 2013, AFSP Senior Director of Public Policy John Madigan attended a panel discussion on suicide prevention held during the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

The panel, moderated by LTG Eric Schoomaker (United States Army, Retired) featured GEN John F. Campbell (Vice Chief of Staff, United States Army) and panelists LTG Howard B. Bromberg (Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1, United States Army); LTG Patricia D. Horoho (Commanding General, United States Army Medical Command/The Surgeon General, United States Army); LTG Michael Ferriter (Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management/Commanding General, Installation Management Command, United States Army); LTC Glenn Schiraldi, Ph.D. (United States Army, Retired, University of Maryland School of Public Health, Founder, Resilience Training International); Karen Reivich Ph.D. (Co-Director, Penn Resiliency Project, University of Pennsylvania); and Gregg Zoroya (USA Today).

AFSP was happy to hear the strides the United States Army has made in reducing suicide among its ranks and looks forward to working with them and the Defense Suicide Prevention Office on collaborative ways to prevent suicide among military personnel and their families.
