The House Energy and Commerce committee held a hearing on Thursday, June 12 entitled “The President’s Health Care Law Does Not Equal Health Care Access” to discuss President Obama’s promise of “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor.” Resident Fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, Scott Gottlieb, Commissioner of the Montana Office of the Commissioner of Securities and Insurance, Monica Lindeen, and Chair of the Government Affairs Committee American College of Rheumatology, William Harvey, were all witnesses to the hearing chaired by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA).
The topics of overall healthcare coverage and accessibility through the Affordable Care Act were discussed by the witnesses and representatives from both sides of the aisle. We were in attendance and we will continue to be monitoring the Affordable Care Act for any developments in the areas of suicide prevention and mental health parity.
