Surviving a Suicide Loss: A Financial
Guide was prepared specifically for the American Foundation
for Suicide Prevention as a public service by the Denver-based National
Endowment for Financial Education®, or NEFE®; William L.
Anthes, Ph.D., President; Brent A. Neiser, CFP, Director of Collaborative
Programs; and Mary J. Schultz, Project Manager of Collaborative
Programs.
NEFE is an independent nonprofit organization
committed to educating Americans about personal finance and empowering
them to make positive, sound decisions to reach their financial
goals. The National Endowment for Financial Education, NEFE, and
the NEFE logo are federally registered service marks of the National
Endowment for Financial Education. For more information about the
National Endowment for Financial Education, visit www.nefe.org.
Founded in 1987, the American Foundation for
Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the only national not-for-profit organization
exclusively dedicated to funding research, developing prevention
initiatives, and offering educational programs and conferences for
survivors, mental health professional, physicians, and the public.
As the leading private sponsor of suicide prevention
research, AFSP continues its quest to understand the psychosocial,
clinical, neurobiological, and genetic aspects of why suicide occurs
and how best to prevent it. AFSP educates physicians, mental health
professionals, gatekeepers, and the media to help them identify
and bring to treatment depressed and suicidal individuals. AFSP
helps survivors heal by providing them with the information they
seek and involving them in the work of suicide prevention. For more
information about the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention,
