AFSP-Florida Southeast
Our Mission: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the only national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education, and to reaching out to people with mood disorders and those affected by suicide.
AFSP Florida Southeast, located in Boca Raton Florida, reaches out to those in communities from Martin County in the North to Monroe County in the South. The Chapter is hard at work promoting AFSP programs that are core to the AFSP mission. Support for survivors who have lost a loved one to suicide through support groups as well as the newly available Survivor Outreach Program are just some of the ways in which our volunteers reach out into the community. Educational and awareness programs will make it possible to de-stigmatize death by suicide. Raising dollars for research is a top priority, as this is the way to change outcomes for so many suffering with the underlying illnesses that lead to suicide.
For AFSP Florida Southeast our “key to success” has been the commitment of the many volunteers who give so generously of their time and energy. Our Annual Awards Luncheon held each year in early spring celebrates the contributions of their dedication and hard work. And we need more volunteers. AFSP Florida Southeast is always looking for volunteers willing to support the AFSP mission.
