Anne Gulotta - Anne Gulotta is Senior Vice President at Northern Trust Securities, Inc in Chicago. Her two passions in life are suicide prevention and organ donation. Anne began volunteering for AFSP-IL in 2006 when she attended her first overnight walk in Chicago. Anne continues to participate in the Chicago Community walks, and is Co-Chair of the High School Outreach Committee. Anne resides in Barrington, IL, and lost her husband to suicide in 2002. She is dedicated to providing help, encouragement, resources, and education to promote mental health and reduce the occurrence of suicide and other harmful behaviors.
Bethany Brooks-Genenbacher, MSW, - Bethany had the pleasure of working in mental health since 1995. Bethany is currently an Adjunct Pprofessor at Aurora University in the Addictions Program and has a private practice in Oak Brook. She has served on the Board since 2010. She has Chaired the Out of the Darknes Community Walks in Springfield and Quincy and has a passion for working within rural communities. She is currently the President of the Illinois Chapter of AFSP.
Christopher B. Schneider, Esq – Mr. Schneider works as Intellectual Property Counsel to Newell Rubbermaid Inc. Mr. Schneider started volunteering for AFSP in 2010, and joined the Board in 2012. He is co-chair of the College Outreach and Interactive Screening Program (ISP) Committee. The ISP provides a simple and effective way to proactively identify at-risk college students and encourage them to get help. Mr. Schneider is committed to placing the ISP in Illinois colleges in 2012. Mr. Schneider also speaks at Illinois colleges to promote suicide awareness and involvement with the AFSP.
Edmond J. Yomtoob, Psy.D., - Dr. Edmond Yomtoob is a psychologist working in private practice in downtown Chicago. He is proud to have served as President of the Illinois Chapter from 2007 to 2011. In addition, he is a trainer for AFSP’s Facilitator Training and he sits on AFSP’s National Survivor Counsel.
Laura Nash, M.Ed. – Laura Nash is an educator who has 20 years experience working with both urban and suburban youth. She serves as the Chair of the Community Outreach Committee, helping educate communities on suicide prevention. In addition, Ms.Nash is a part of the Survivor Outreach Program, meeting with families of recently bereaved. She is a passionate advocate for suicide prevention.
Nancy B. Perlson, MA, LSW, RYT - After the death of her father to suicide in 1996, Nancy became an advocate in the field of suicide awareness and support for those grieving the death of a loved one by suicide. Nancy received her master’s degree from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration in order to become more involved in all aspects of mental illness and suicide support, as well as, issues around trauma and loss. Nancy has participated in many Out of the Darkness Walks in Chicago and has worked a Survivor Outreach Volunteer for AFSP. As a member of the Board, Nancy is now the Coordinator of the Survivor Outreach Program. In addition to being a speaker at the 2005 Overnight Walk in Chicago, Nancy has spoken at many events and educational programs representing AFSP.
Richard B. Kirchhoff, DDS - Dr. Kirchhoff works as a Pediatric Dentist. He has an extensive military background and is a retired Army Aviation Officer. He is the Co-Chairperson of the Illinois Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He also serves as a National Board Member and as a national Chairperson of the Chapter Leadership Council.
Steve Moore, Esq - Steve Moore, who’s 19 year old son died by suicide in 2006, joined the board of the Illinois chapter in 2008. Steve is the chapter’s Secretary, a member of its Executive Committee, Chair of its Legislative Committee, its representative on the Illinois Suicide Prevention Alliance and captain of the AFSP Chicago Marathon Team. He is on AFSP’s national Public Policy Council and a participant in AFSP's Field Advocate program. He is also a facilitator for survivor support groups in a program run by Chicago Catholic Charities.
Zane F Muhl, DDS, MS, PhD - Dr. Muhl’s professional career consisted primarily of teaching and research on the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry. He joined the Board of the Illinois Chapter of AFSP after taking part in the Out of the Darkness Overnight in 2005, the first time it was held in Chicago. This event was so meaningful in his journey of healing from the suicides of his mother and sister that he is now devotes himself to giving something back to the cause of suicide prevention. He finds great satisfaction in serving alongside the dedicated and resourceful board members and volunteers of the Illinois Chapter, where he currently serves as Co-Chairperson. Dr. Muhl also is a member of the Chapter Executive and Nominating Committees.
