Make a General Donation
Thank you for your interest in supporting the important work of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention with a gift of stock.
If the stock certificate is in your possession, you may simply send it to AFSP at 120 Wall Street, 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10005, to the attention of Michael Lamma, senior director of field management and development, with a letter signed by all of the parties shown on the front of the stock certificate indicating your intention to donate the number of shares indicated on the stock certificate. Also please sign and send in a separate envelope a stock power assignment form which is signed exactly as the registration shown on the front of the stock certificate. You will also need to have the stock power "medallion signature guaranteed" by your commercial bank or stock broker. We would suggest this be sent certified mail and registered receipt or other trackable form of delivery.
If your stocks are being held in the custody of your broker you will need to call your broker, explain that you would like to donate either a certain number of shares or a certain dollar value in shares to AFSP. At that time you will need to provide your broker with AFSP's account information to enable the transfer for your gift. Your broker can then transfer your shares through the book-entry system of the Depository Trust Company from your brokerage account to AFSP's brokerage account.

Once the stock reaches our account, AFSP will contact Vanguard and direct them to sell the stock. The value of the stock at the time of transfer will be deposited into AFSP's operating account and your donation receipt will reflect that amount. Please call Mike Lamma at AFSP when a transfer has been made so that we can credit the donation to you as quickly as possible.
