2013 Advocacy Forum

2013 Advocacy Forum

AFSP advocates from 48 states visited Capitol Hill, sharing their personal stories and educating members of Congress and their staff about suicide prevention.

On June 13, advocates from 48 states and the District of Columbia visited all 100 Senate offices and all 435 House offices as part of AFSP’s fourth annual Advocacy Forum.

Participants shared their personal stories and educated members of Congress and their staff about suicide prevention and AFSP’s federal policy priorities, including expansion of the National Violent Death Reporting System to all 50 states to improve the information collected on suicide deaths, and S.153 and H.R.274, Mental Health First Aid legislation. Other priorities were also discussed.
