26th Annual AAS/AFSP Healing After Suicide Conference

The 26th Annual American Association of Suicidology/American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Healing After Suicide Conference will be held on April 12, 2014, at the Century Plaza Hyatt Regency in Los Angeles, California. The HAS Conference runs alongside the 47th annual AAS Conference. This year’s conference, which is called "Never Alone," is designed for survivors of suicide loss, support group facilitators, mental health professionals, and interested others.

"Never Alone," according to the conference brochure, "is more than a catchphrase or a conference theme; it is an ideology that we believe has to be integrated into our roles as clinicians, researchers, suicidologists, survivors, or attempt survivors."

HAS session subjects include: Supporting Grieving Children and Teens after a Suicide Death; Men and Suicide Bereavement: Listening to Men’s Voices; Writing a Path to Healing: Coping With Suicide Loss; Thriving after Military Suicide Loss: Finding Connection, Meaning, Purpose and Hope; Artful Grief: Open Art Studio; Suicide and Religion: Embracing Survivors; and Cinematherapy: Using Films To Inspire, Educate, and Heal After Suicide.
