Dr. Guy Diamond and Dr. Gary Diamond’s work contributed to the field of suicide prevention by studying a clinical treatment, Attachment-Based Family Therapy, in people with suicide risk. This research led to positive results for adolescents with a history of suicide attempt.
They took it a step further, studying the treatment in LGBT adolescents at high risk for suicide and their families. Therefore the contribution has been focused and has clinical importance. Their work highlights a number of critical areas of interest at AFSP- suicide attempters who are therefore at higher risk for completed suicide, adolescents, and LGBT populations.
