Linkage Study of Depression, Suicidal Behavior and Related Endophenotypes in a Bedouin Family
Abstract: This project will conduct genotyping and linkage analyses on genetic samples obtained from 355 members of a large endogamous Israeli Arab family with high rates of depression and suicide. In a separate five-year study, the investigators have conducted in-depth psychiatric and psychological interviews with these family members and have also obtained DNA samples from each member. Findings from the proposed genetic analyses will be linked to individual and familial patterns of mental disorders and suicidality, providing unprecedented insight into the genetic basis of suicidal behavior.
