Reconceptualizing Suicide as Impaired Temporal Discounting: An fMRI Study in Bipolar Disorder
Anxiety may affect choices a depressed suicidal person makes regarding long- and short-term reward. Using fMRI brain imaging people who are depressed and suicidal with and without anxiety will be compared on decisions about reward while brain function is measured. The hope is to gain insight into suicidal thinking.
