Dear AFSP Community Leaders:
We are pleased to present the 2013 Out of the Darkness Community Walk Manual. In 2012, the AFSP Out of the Darkness Community Walks Campaign took place in 278 cities nationwide with more than 110,000 participants walking and raising over $8.4 million! We are excited about building on this success and reaching more people and raising more dollars in support of our mission in 2013.
The purpose of this signature event is to create a brand identity for AFSP fundraising, maximize fundraising success and lay the ground work for aggressive growth for AFSP’s chapters in the future. A network of strong chapters will dramatically increase the number of people involved and the amount of funds available for suicide prevention research and education; both are needed to save lives.
Whether you are an AFSP Chapter or a group of volunteers looking to conduct a community event to raise funds in support of AFSP’s efforts to reduce the loss of life from suicide, this manual will provide a step-by-step guide to conducting a successful event.
This manual is the property of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Please do not share this confidential information with other organizations, groups, or individuals.
Best wishes for a successful Out of the Darkness Walk Event in your community!
